5-day Ashtanga Yoga courses

The best way to learn Ashtanga Yoga is to attend a daily class for long enough to absorb the practice sequence and get used to the 'routine' of a regular practice.

These 5-day courses are run once a month at the Studio. They act both as learning intensives and as periods of supported practice helping to provide the inspiration and motivation to continue at home. They are suitable for beginners as well as for those practicing the primary and intermediate series of ashtanga yoga.

Can anyone come?

The short answer is YES. Ashtanga Vinyasa is a dynamic and sometimes awe inspiring practice but as with other forms of yoga it is about working from where we are now, both physically and mentally. As long as we bear this in mind, anyone can start regardless of age or physical fitness. A mix of group and individual teaching styles are used to ensure that everyone learns at a level appropriate to them.

How many people in each session?

Classes typically comprise a mix of newcomers to yoga, newcomers to ashtanga (but who have studied other forms of yoga) and experienced practitioners. Class size is limited to 10 people on the 5 day intensives to ensure that everyone can be assisted individually in their practice. Courses are increasingly full so early booking is recommended.

How long does a class last?

Around 90 minutes. Various time slots (7.30am, 9.30am & 7pm) are available on different courses to help meet individual requirements.

Can I attend less than the full 5 days?

A full week is by far the best option if you can manage it and priority will be given to whole course bookings. However, as long as there are spaces available on the course then part week bookings are possible. The only proviso is that if you have not practiced ashtanga yoga previously then please choose days within a 'led class' week.
